VIAN BELIEVES

SMALL CONTRIBUTIONS

FROM EACH PERSON

CAN MAKE A

DIFFERENCE IN

THE WORLD

Two centuries ago in Kathmandu, Nepal, a princess created a blanket called ‘Khasto’ perfect to use for all seasons. Over the years, it became a favorite of the locals. It is particularly adored by mothers, who use it to lovingly clothe their children. The Khasto is a staple, a comfort, and a constant reminder of mother’s love. Today, Vian is reviving the art of Khasto with a modern twist to bring this blanket of our dreams from Kathmandu to San Francisco.

In Vian’s Khastos, two-layers of the finest muslin sandwich a brightly printed middle layer, creating a dreamy, lightweight material of muted colors. In the cold, the layers are able to trap heat close to the body. In the mild summer, the cotton wicks heat away from the body and allows for transpiration. Our blankets, swaddles, and clothes are made by highly skilled artisans in Kathmandu and we make sure that they are compensated well for their contribution.

Vian’s baby blankets and children’s clothing wear are designed to be light as a cloud and incredibly soft to the touch. Mothers find these versatile, temperature-wicking capacity of Khastos perfect for the care of babies and children. Muslin has long been recognized in the West as an ideal lightweight swaddle for babies. With its three layers, the Khasto retains the characteristics of muslin while providing added warmth. It gives us joy to share our favorite fabric with you. Our Khastos are both a piece of art and an heirloom that can be used time and again.

A piece of Vian is at once a piece of art and an expression of living fully - in health and heart. Live well, live Vian!
